  Emulators

I now many people know what an emulator is. Well earlier (before Pez took over my job as news editor) last week I mentioned something in the news about a lawsuit filed by Sony Computer Entertainment towards Connectix for it's MAC based emulator called the Virtual Game Station. Sony says that the emulator makes it easier for pirates to play their pirated software.

Well I'm not here to judge anyone but I'm just wondering what is on Sony's mind.

But to gofarther in this complain, Connectix has declined all charges saying that the emulator is pirate protected and is not backing down. But still this battle rages on. Connectix (I thing to spite Sony) has made plans to release a newer version of the Virtual Game Station and has made no plans to slow the release to V.G.S. to retail shelves.

Emulators are a great thing, I have many myself. I enjoy playing those old skool games from yesteryear but I think Connectix went about this all wrong. I think they should have gotten a contract with SCEA to get this ultimate cool emulator to store shelves. I think they decided not to because I might be wrong but maybe they felt that Sony would take a part in the revenue.

I don't want to take sides in this debate but I think both companies are to blame. Because one Connectix should have gotten some kind of permission but on the other side Sony isn't really going to lose all that much money, I think it can handle something such as this.

Well that's it for today's editorial. Just to cover my own ass, I do own all of the games that I have a ROM for. And if you have an emulator it is illegal to have a ROM for a game you do not own or are thinking on buying unless you delete it 24 hours after downloading.

Catch ya later all, the peoples' webmaster Geoff Trainor.
